Has anyone had the Surge Guard Plus installed in their unit? What are the advantages -- if any?

We have the 50amp surge guard hard-wired in our rig...like Adrian, I wouldn't leave home without one.
BTW, great looking sheltie dog. We've had two and they were great companions.

Thanks for the replies. We have a Surge Guard 30-amp hardwired in our coach now...DIDN'T leave home without it!
What I wanted to know is if anyone has the Surge Guard PLUS installed. We're upgrading to a 50-amp DP shortly... there will be at least the Surge Guard hardwired in there.

Oh dear...forgot about 'the dog'! Thanks for the compliment. She thinks everyone comes by to see HER! She just loves people. Trying to get her tested for therapy-dog this summer. They are wonderful companions.

What does the Plus have, in addition to the interior monitor? I have the 50 amp Surge Guard, hardwired, and I keep a Good Governor plugged in all the time. The difference in price seems, at least to me, to be a bit excessive for what you get.
I'll keep my Surge Guard.

Well, Bob...that's exactly why I asked! Doesn't seem to be all that much 'extra' for the increase in cost. Unless one is a 'gadget' person, why bother, right?!

The difference is added protection ..3350 Jouels and 130000 amp peak. Regular surge guards are rated at much less. Still wouldn't be with out one..By the way they have done away with the key bypass, said it was defeating the purpose of the protection.
I have always used the regular and not the plus.
It has always been sufficient for my use. Altho if you took a "really big hit" the plus would probably be better. Specs are available at the Camping World Site...Good luck
PS I too like the looks of your dog,,BEAR at bad either.

OK, now I know what full difference is, and it would not be worth the extra $ to me.
In the last 32 months we've been in 43 States, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and the Surge Guard we have has protected us several times from bad power. I don't see the need for the fancy one, but I could be wrong.

The first 3 1/2 years I figured I wouldn't need it. All it took was one time to realize I needed it. I have the exterior protector. Now I plug it in even if I stay for just an overnight. If you don't use one sooner or later it will catch up to you.
