Surge Guard 50amp where is the Key?

I have the one wired in to our rv but it has a key slot to bypass.

When we got our motorhome we never got a key for i asked surge guard they said they no longer make it with the key and they did not know what the key was( very useful).

Anyways i am curious if anyone has a picture of the key of code it might be?

Why not just remove the key switch and replace it with a commonly-available switch that meets the form and function?

I left my key in my Surge Guard so that I couldn't lose it. That doesn't help you now.

I had a 30 amp Surge Guard. It failed to cut my power in an RV park that had low power issues every afternoon when air conditioners started running. My 30 amp power plug partially melted. My friend also had a 30 amp Surge Guard that cut his power. We moved to a different row with dependable power.

I now have a 50 amp PI (Progressive Industries) surge protector on our new RV. My only problem with the PI is the dealer mounted it on the bottom of the electrical bay and the fault display was hidden behind an extension chord. I recently moved it near the top of the bay and I can now see the display.

My 50amp SurgeGuard, circa 2005, has served me well in 2 coaches. The key I have is Illinois Lock Co., number on the key is 400R. I'll try and upload a pic later today when we get the coach back from service.

To answer some other question the guard seems to work as designed and is still fully functional.

I had thought about what i would do if it failed and i could not bypass i would wire around it. But i would rather just turn the key. I did look at taking it apart and rekeying but honestly looked like more trouble then worth.

I did look at just replacing but seemed silly when it works.

The TRS is a good unit, and warned me just last week when squirrels had eaten the aluminum common to pieces running to my home base shore power. Mine was replaced once by TRS when it was destroyed by lightning. I have the same key mentioned above but have NEVER used it and probably would not. The one time I bypassed mine was at Fort Wilderness at Disneyworld. Their electric was a little on the high side and tripping the Surgeguard. Just high enough to be agravating. After they worked on it, it was ok.
