Sorry if it's a dumb question...
08 Winnebago Vectra. Does my dimension inverter/charger charge my engine batteries while hooked to shore power or using gen? Or do the coach batteries only charge with the engine alternator?
thanks,
rich

I would say yes, it is easy to check though. Use a multi meter and put it on each battery to check the different scenerios. I just did this on my Safari and my Generator charges both house and engine battery, alternator charges both batteries, and converter/charger charges both as well.

I believe that your unit has the TrikLStart installed, in which case both are charged. Best way to check is to look at the voltage on the batteries. Voltage should be at least 13.2 if they are being charged, 12.8 or less if not.

i don't think it is connected then. i get a reading from 12.6 to 12.8. (while hooked up) i don't think i have a trickle charger either. they might have started putting them on the 09's.
thanks everyone.

Actually, I believe that they started installing them at the factory in 04 or 05.
If you are only seeing 12.6 on you need to make sure that the charger is on.

it's just driving me a little nutty. engine is reading 12.7 right now, house is floating at 13.1. i don't remember it ever being different. in fact, i remember both coach and house floating at around 13.9?? that's what my genset is set at...really confused.

I was suprised to find that my 06 does not charge the engine battery while plugged in to external power. I bought and hooked up a tricle charger to the engine battery.

Well, several months ago I called Winnebago on my 08 Destination 39W. I do have the trickle charger by Winnebago. My problem was not setting up correctly.
In order to charge both the chassis battery and the house batteries, neither of the disconnect switches can be turned off. However, I was informed that I should turn the steps off as there is a constant drain when the steps are turned on. Ever since then I have been charging both, using solar, shore, or generator.
Call Winnebago with your serial number and they will pull up your build information and tell you exactly the type of charger you have.
