Rocker Switch

The bedroom lights in my 2005 Itasca Horizon quit working and I believe it might be the rocker switch. My first thought was to just pry it off and put a meter on it, but then I thought why not run it by our experts and see if there is a secret to easy removal. I await an answer with a poised screw driver.

Grimesy, I would first look for a GFI breaker and see if it's tripped. If that's not the problem. Check the light bulb. Then pull the rocker switch and put a meter on it.

Lightes in an RV,, I will assume they are 12 volt (if they are not please stop reading this now)

I always love folks who's first response is GFCI...

Since it is only the bedroom lights, not all the lights, that means his battery and/or converter are working.. My first guess would be bad bulb, followed by blown fuse or, if it has them tripped 12 volt circuit breaker.

Thanks guys, only one set of lights off one switch that is what makes me think it is the switch..Start at the end and work backward.

Sounds like the culprit is the 12v resetable breaker where your main panel is, you might have fuses but I doubt it. Go for the switch next, it's unlikely all the bulbs blew at once. Depending on what you find there- it's probably a wire that fell off somewhere.

So getting back to my original post, is there an easy way of getting the rocker switch off the wall mount, or do I just pry?

Don I had the same problem -trying to figure out how to get old rocker switch off-I went to local RV store and bought a new one to see what the secret was to getting it off-A little screwdriver pushing in the tabs and BOOM it's off-I also found out that if you spray a little wd-40 or equivalent and excercise switch the stupid thing started working--(A lady told me that trick at a campsite)--Rich

Thanks Rich, may be the answer I was looking for. Just like the "old" days when we would spray the tuner on our Television set.

Grimesy,
I just had the same problem with my 110V water heater switch for our '04 Itasca Horizon. The LED in it was out and I wanted it to work so, I had to try and figure out how to get the switch off the wall. I finally undid the entire panel and removed the switch from behind. But, yours may not be that easy. The post above mine most likely is the answer. At the very worst, if you break it, they're cheap at your local RV store. And, in the reverse, they "Pop" right in. They're not designed to "Pop" out. Good luck.
