Quick, whereisit - converter

Where is the charger/12v convertor on a gas 1995 Vectra?
I found the transfer switch in the side, there is no convertor there.

TIA

Start working from your coach battery bay out. I found mine under the left side of my refrigerator and had to pull out the drawer under the right side to access it. My refer is right next to my battery bay. The only way I found it was that I had the AC and other noise makers off and when looking near a breaker panel across they hallway from the refer I could hear the fan hum. Do make sure the converter fan is running, turn on as many 12V deices and lights that you can.

I am thinking it is right under the fridge, with your help. There are some AC breakers there on a panel. I will pull the panel and see if I find it behind there.
I am thinking of getting a "smart" charger since my last set of house batteries lasted 2.5 years and they are sealed gasmat, they sould have lasted longer than that.

If anyone has a suggestion on a "smart" charger, I will listen.

Looking at the wiring diagram it appears to be the same place as the converter was at on my 1994 Vectra.
There is a screw on panel just above the propane tank on the passengers side of the coach and the converter is setting behind the cover below the main floor.
You will see the cover when the lift the door for the propane tank.

Okay, so that is the inverter but, is this what charges the battery also?
It looks like this is just the unit that makes 12v for the lights and such when you are hooked up to shore power. There are a bunch of wires coming from it.
Thanks,

Yes, that's it. Just a dumb 12VDC (actually more like 13.5 volts) power supply that supplies the DC to the lights and also charges the battery at a fixed rate.

So is there any way to take it out of the battery charging circuit and replace the power with a 'smart charger'? (I am guessing not)
I think it is eating my coach batteries, I have no proof though.

Yes that type of converter will eat your batteries over time.
I would just replace the unit with a newer smart converter/charger.
It would be difficult at best to separate the 12 vdc wiring as the battery, converter and 12 vcd systems all work together.
