Exclamation Problems with the GFCI Leviton ...

Today I have experienced some unforeseen events involving the electrical system. The cause is to be charged to GFCI Leviton installed on board (2 in total) that have become unusable at the same time.

In addition, the espresso machine connected to a GFCI Leviton has also been damaged.

In the forum I read that Leviton products are not entirely suitable for operation in the presence of a modified sine wave inverter. As of today, the severely damaged GFCI amounted to 3.

It seems that Xantrex recommends replacing the Levit GFCI with others from the "Pass & Seymour" (Legrand) or the "Hubbell/Bryant". Has anyone had such an experience? Is it true that the GFCI Leviton give problems?

To me... sure!

Regards!

Exclamation Inverters Freedom, Xantrex and GFCI... an important reply!

No reply? OK ... I answer myself ...

After a lot of research I finally found a confirmation of my suspicions and now I'm holding an official Xantrex document.

I hope that it can be useful to everyone and that it can serve to avoid trouble with the inverters and the GFCI.

While I am attaching the document, it will be easier to download it.

This is the link to the Schneider Electric website: http://www2.schneider-electric.com/r...s%20output.pdf

Greetings to all.

So, in short, it's really true. If you have an inverter / charger Xantrex can be risky to use a GFCI Leviton, the attached document is clear, now it is not more than just rumors.

I ordered the GFCI of another brand, I hope I have no more bad surprises.

Regards

Thanks for the info. What brand did you replace it with?

I have ordered 3 GFCI "Pass & Seymour" (Legrand).

Be careful though, I remind you that I have a Freedom inverter.

What bothers me is the fact that Winnebago has installed the Leviton at the origin.

I do not understand why.

I just replaced my leviton gfi with one picked up at menards (made in china). Seems to be working and hope it will continue to do so. Just make sure you hook it up correctly re. line/draw as indicated on the back of the new gfi.

FYI. MSW inverters are cheap, inefficient and will destroy a standard heated blanket. Microwaves are not happy but most will work and many motors will not run. I recommend upgrading the inverter to a Magnum pure sine wave inverter. All other potential problems brought about by the MSW inverter will go away.
