Onan Generator fuel usage

I have a 7500 watt Onan Diesel generator on my '05 Journey. Does anybody know how much diesel fuel my generator will use in an hour? I want to boondock for several days and don't want to run out!
Thanks in advance...

Steve

i bet about half a gallon per hour or less. But probably not less than a 1/4 of a gallon.

We boondocked once with genset running 24/7 for 3.5 days... went from a full tank to just over 1/4 of a tank.

You can go much longer if you only run the genset when needed if you can.

It all depends upon how much load the Gen is seeing

You won't run out of fuel for the motor, the Generator can only draw the tank down to 1/4 of a tank then IT will stop, you see the generator's fuel pick-up is at the 1/4 tank level to prevent people from running their tanks empty and not being able to get fuel then.

The approximate amount of fuel my Onan burns per hour when under 1/2 load, and when under full load, is shown in the Operator's manual for my Onan.
Your Onan Operator's Manual should have that info also.

I burn between .7 and .8 gallons per hour powering both air conditioners and the refer.

I always figured on 1/2 gallon per hour and was never far off. That said if you are talking 90° temps running two AC's I would plan .8 per hour. At that rate 8 hours a day for 8 days would be about a half tank of fuel.

0.8 gallons per hour is the average.

I always heard that however I ran my 2016 Winnie down below E on my way home last trip to see how much reserve was left (about 5 gallons) and the generators was still running!

Anyway my Onan 4000 uses about 1/2 gallon an hour at 1/2 load which is where it's at with the AC on. It's listed in the manual as previously stated.

Here are the specs on our Onan 7500. I use 1/2 gallon an hour for my estimates.

SKP64 has it right, about 1/2 gallon an hour unless it is fully loaded. That's what I have used as a guide for several years.

Fuel Usage

When I boondock at EAA's Camp Scholler in Oshkosh, I run the AC and generator full time. Normal current draw is around 20 Amps. I estimate I use about 8 gallons in 24 hours.
