Need new Engine Batteries
Hi Guys:
I need new engine batteries for my CAT C-7, 360 HP Turbo Diesel. I looked im my manuals and books and can not find a recomendation.
I would like to go with no maintenance, sealed batteries so I don't have to fuss with the water. I see a couple of notes in my operators manual for the Chassie house batteries, but none for the engine.
I have two now, no info per say on them. Should they be at least 665 CCA's each? I am open to all suggestions.
Regards... Jim P.

Freightliner calls for two 760 CCA @ 0oF (-18oC); maintenance-free batteries: Built on Freightliner: 2004 Itasca Meridian . My 2005 Vectra with the Cat C7 calls for two 950 CCA batteries.

Hi Chris:
Thats exactly what I was looking for, thank you very much.
I would probably go with the 950 CCA's instead of the 750's. Is the battery physical size in your Vectra the same size as the batteries in my Meridan?

Hi Wiz & Chris:
I like Interstate batteries. My house batteries are Interstate. They are older than my engine batteries and are in great shape.
I don't know the make of my engine batteries off hand, but they are barely over two years old if I remember the date on the sticker correctly. I am going to have to see the make and find out if there is any warranty involved.
I figure these will not be on the cheap side.

In my area, NAPA had the best deal and warranty on a 950CCA maintenance-free battery. They sell a lot of big truck/tractor batteries to the farmers around here.

NAPA 31M 950 CCA ...replaced almost anywhere if necessary. CAT says 950's, batts are cheaper than starters.

When our goverment was giving out grants ; They gave $20,million to Korea To make and Develope Batteries for the Volt car.. We had 5 batteries in our Pusher that were getting week, They were a known Name brand; Well I did a lot of shopping around and found The same Battery #31, Same size ,same output; Import from Korea; For less then 1/2== Half the price, Go figure; That is what I put in;;About buying in our country, yes I understand that. But the battery Was developed and substatized by our Goverment; . Anyway they seem to do just fine. We run a 2000 watt inverter for ETC<,, Life is good.
