Journey Battery Conversion
I just completed my battery conversion from three 12 Volt to four 6 Volt Trojen-105's. So far no smoke and everything seems to be working normally. Just thought I would share the pictures of the new batteries and a diagram of the connections.

How's the clearance between the top of the battery posts and the top lip of the bay? I want to do the same but have been worried about the battery posts coming in contact and causing fireworks.

I cut about an inch off the top lip of the bay with a Dremel cut off blade. Then I put a piece of rubber edge moulding on the bare metal edge. The batteries and posts now clear by about an inch and a half.

Thanks Sammie! I had 6v in my Adventurer and plan to put them in this Journey when the time comes. Having the picture and info is a great help.

This is exactly what I did to get mine in. Have you figured out how to secure them? Since they sit almost 4" in the tray I figured if I bounced them that high I had way more serious problems coming..
Looks like you have my 2x4 up front too..

Do you have a Dimensions charger and if so did you have to change the charge settings? I looked at the Dimesnions manual and saw nothing specific to 6 volt battereis. But did find a paper written by Dimensions in Nov 2006 titled, "Specifying the Battery, Wiring & Fusing - Recreational Vehicle." So would the Dimensions battery selector switch be set to "C" for a two six volt batteries connected in a series battery bank size that exceeded 400 amp hours? (Two 225 amp hrs 6VDC batteries in series) x 2 banks = 450 amp hrs?

Jeff, No I have not secured them yet. I think if you feel the need to you could use some sort of a nylon strap, but you would need to cut some slots in the bottom of the drawer.
Steve G, I called Dimensions about the battery setup that I now have and they said to use the "C" selection on the inverter.
So far everything works good. I will be leaving this Friday for a ten day trip and will be able to give more information when I return.

I have the Dimensions charger as well. It's been awhile since I talked to them but I called the factory to ask about that switch, and they convinced me to leave it as-is. The difference between a small and large battery stack is the timed difference on the Accept (I think) mode.

So Jeff, Whats your personal opinion on the switch location? I don't want to over charge and ruin $500 in new batteries. I don't do that much dry camping so there's usually not a need to recharge quickly.

Mine is in position 'D', and have not had to reason to goose up the times for lack of final charge. With 4ea. 232AH 6V batteries I'm not far out of the 400AH setting anyway.
