If you don't clean the mess up shown in the picture your problems may not be over. Rust and corrosion are a disaster especially at 12 volts. The pressure of 12 volts will not push through much contamination.

Disconnect both battery bank negative leads and go to town on those wires and connections with a wire brush. One on the end of a drill and a round sanding drum on a dremel works wonders. On some of the connectors they may need to be replaced. Shiny and clean is a must in 12 volts.

x2. Baking soda is a good place to start and when all is nice and shinny spray things down with terminal protectant. I like using mineral oil in my batteries to help keep the corrosion down around them. I have a email off to Trojan batteries asking why I should not do this. I am trying to settle rumors and "I think" statements with fact.

12V DC is so sensitive to small parasitic resistances. They quickly add up to a real voltage loss as the current increases.

aux batt on off switch fix

27ft, 1987 Winnebago Chieftain, model wcn27rt with twin beds in back.

The whole back end of the "aux batt on off" switch was broken out and would occasionally work.

I couldn't find any rocker style replacements locally, so I went with a regular switch from Radio Shack. Also, picked up a green led for the indicator light as that was burnt out.

I had to do a little surgery on the dash to install the switch and light. I used a very stiff coffee table coaster that I found at a rummage sale on the drive home from RadShack.

When looking for this kind of a switch, you can search for DPDT MOMENTARY.

I'll include the links to the switch and LED that I used, but they will probably be bad in the future.

Model: 276-271 Catalog #: 2760271 GREEN LED WITH HOLDER $2.49
