Honda EU3000 Handi inverter generator

I want to buy an inverter/generator that will power the ac unit in my Minnie Drop 19. I believe it’s a 13,500 btu unit. Has anyone had any experience with the Honda Handi EU3000? With the recoil start it is lightweight but expensive. I just want to buy enough power the first time. The surge watts are 3000. Going to be used on trips for an occasional off the grid campsite. Any advice appreciated.

THe Honda is the quietest out there. The inrush is only for startup so the key is FLA full load amps for sustained use. I use a 2000i for my boat and it takes the inrush fine.

Thanks, Mike. My only real concern was making sure the 3000w was plenty for the 2800 start up watts on the 13500btu ac. Just wanted to make sure the Handi unit was sufficient. Sounds like it will work. Thanks again!

Yes it will work fine. But I wouldn’t call it light. Most find an ~80lb object kind of heavy to lift in and out of a truck or compartment. That’s why many buy two 37lb 2200i generators instead.

Due to the weight, I'd rather have two 2200i generators. You can hook them together when you need the extra power but, if you aren't going to need the A/C, you can leave one at home. The 2200i weighs 45.6 lbs while the 3000i weighs in at 144 lbs. Lifting 45.6 lbs twice is much easier than lifting 144 lbs once. Price-wise, the 2200i is advertised at $2,019 while the 2200i is advertised at $1,009 x 2 = $2,018, plus you're getting more wattage. Here's some info on paralleling two Honda generators:

Hundreds less, every bit as reliable, far more versatile., and quiet.

Thanks, Bob. The Handi unit with the recoil start is a little less than 80 lbs but reading your and Creativepart’s comments I may reconsider and think about the two smaller units. Thanks again.
