Got a question

Wasn’t sure where to post this hope I’m in the correct one. A couple monthes I installed a suburban IW60 on demand hot water heater. 3 days ago it stoped working. So I got the volt meter out and started checking thing so and realized I only had 8 volts at heater so I pulled power from a different souce. And it’s working fine. But now when I power up water heater the 12 volt lights get brighter ? The water heater has 2 grounds. Other than that i have no clue what’s up.
I have a 1985 windcruiser with 25,000 miles
I live In it And I’m restoring/ modernizing it

First thing I always do is refresh the ground. Often times that's the problem.
