Generator fuel diesel tank pick up tube

My generator cuts out at about 1/2 tank of diesel. I heard it is supposed to be at 1/4 tank. Anyone else have this? It would be nice if it was at 1/4 for longer boondocking but I was wondering if it was a big job to adjust it.

Is your fuel gauge accurate? At a one-half tank reading, is it really 1/2 full?
I would be sure of my answer to this before I started messing around with the fuel tank.

Oh I would never do a change without checking that first. Havn't driven it much yet. Long trip in April. I'll check it then. I hope it's just a gauge thing. Just was wondering if anyone else had this experience.

My generator would cut off at 5/8 of a tank.....turned out that the pick up tube in the fuel tank had not been installed....dealer had to drop the tank and correct the problem....now genny cuts off at around 1/4 of tank....

Yes mine cuts off at a half a tank. I have checked to make sure that my gage is correct and based on what I have found it is. I can do 1000 miles a tank but in the summer I have to stop around 450 to 500 miles to refuel or my genny will die! 2001 fleetwood discovery. I have not looked into a fix yet but we do not boone dock so our situation is different then yours.

I would be nice if the Genny had its own auxiliary tank for times when we drop below a quarter tank. I hate losing the Genny at a quarter tank. Its like they don't trust us to manage our fuel. But then again maybe its not good to be sucking fuel from the bottom of the tank.

I think they want to avoid leaving the MH out of fuel and unable to get to a fueling station. Some people camp a long time in one spot and run the generator. It would be easy to run the rig out of fuel if the pickup wasn't off the bottom a little.

My genny cuts off at 1/3 of a tank, we know this because when we baught the motorhome, genny wouldn't start, dealer said oh it's just the cut off safety, told him you want us to buy we gotta see the genny run, they had to fill it to 1/3 to start the genny.
