Hi Ho: Should have mentioned it, but testing is very easy. If there is 12 volts on the solenoid control (the cener terminal) then the two outside lugs should be connected to each other. Just take you voltmeter and with the engine running determine that voltage is on the coil, then measure the voltage on each side. If it isn't the same, you need a new solenoid.
I got one in Alaska at NAPA, and just picked up one in Quartzsite, AZ at an RV store. They are mostly made in Mexico and maybe that is also a reason that they fail. I wonder if one with about twice the current rating made in the USA is available. Haven't seen one, but that doesn't mean anything.
