Electrical issue

Been on the road with no issues at all. Ran genset 8 hours yesterday due to heat. It was off fir about an hour prior to hooking into camp pedestal. All they had was 30A. Went inside ran a.c. and had dinner about hour later notice no a.c.. checked energy panel bonus wall it says no incoming service. Outside progressive monitor showed no problems from the pedestal. I reset breaker unplugged anf replugged turned breaker back on. Progressive monitor says all good. But still have no 30 A service inside couch.

What am I missing.

At least it ws s nice enough we slept with windows open n left pedestal unplugged.

Thanks

Bob

Find your transfer switch and give it a sharp rap with something. If that doesn't work, open the transfer switch up and check the connections. Of couse you'll unplug from the pedestal first.

Also turn your coach batteries off. Test before touch rule.

My transfer switch had to be replaced too. In my case it restricted power coming in and switched on and off with a bang.

Always best to make sure heavy loads are turned off when switching between power sources, or when setting up a new power source. Was the AC turned off when you plugged into the pedestal? \ken

All heavy loads were off. Also found out now some of the GFIs work some don't . All are reset. The washer will not turn on. Now plugged into 50A service progressive monitor shows all ok. But still no service on the EMS panel on the inside. Only when you run generator it shows good service. Heavy rain drove yesterday about five hours something got wet for sure.

Another vote for Transfer Switch. Had a power surge that ate one. Opposite problem from yours. No power from Genset. Was intermittent and usually only one leg. Replaced ATS drove home and AC quite enroute. Turned around. New ATS had already failed. 2nd new ATS all was like new. Good luck.

majfrizz, Sounds like you are missing one leg going through the transfer switch. Also check and make sure the washer or dryer breakers are not tripped they must remain on to power the EMS unit. Second though the breakers must me OK if everything works with the generator running.

If all is well on the generator, you have a transfer switch issue.

BTW, a GFI outlet that is not powered can NOT be reset.

Bob,

Is your Progressive Industries EMS unit wired BEFORE the transfer switch or AFTER the transfer switch?

Your problem certainly could be from a number of sources.

Transfer Switch
Pin Circuit Breakers on Inverter (some inverters pass-through 120 VAC)
Intellitec EMS system

Trace the power with a DVOM if you feel comfortable using one around live power.

Once you have found it on the input side of the device and there is no power on the output side of the device, you have identified the problem.

Found out it is the transfer switch. Power in nothing out. The progressive monitor is befi re the ATS. That is why I get good readings. Will have to get a new one on Tuesday. Heading home tomorrow after being on road last two weeks. It is always something with these things. Thanks for everyone's quick response.

Surge guard 41260 was in my 13 tour. Amazon has it $211.00 if you not in warranty.

I sorta figured that was the configuration that you had, same as mine.

What brand of ATS did you have and what brand are you replacing it with?

Have to check out exactly what model is in there. It is out of warranty but have the extended plan. Have a few other items might as well get them all fixed ay one time with one deductible. Still trying to figure the washer and electric stovetop out. They both must be hooked to the one bad GFI that will not reset.

I see you found the problem (Transfer switch) but I will (for others) list another suspect or two. NOTE: These I have seen with my own eyes and I am NOT a professional RV technician so this limits the number of rigs I have seen

In power line order
Bad plug on 50 (or 30) amp cord (Mine)
Bad job of installing MARINCO outlet on cord.. One (not mine) actually came off in my hand as not one of the six screws inside it (L-1, L-2, N, G and two cable clamp screws) had been tightened.. that was one Ticked OFF! brand new sticker still in the window 5th wheel owner I can tell you)

On yet another RV it was just one loose wire in the marineco outlet

On MY RV it was one screw on the INLET

I also had several loose wires in the breaker box

And a bad transfer switch.

Bob, I have a 2012 Tour so what I am about suggest may not apply.

The 2012 has a built in surge guard that will prevent things like shutting down the gen before the A/C and doing harm to the electrical system. It has a RESET button and there is a picture of it in the manual. Although it is on the drivers side, I had to reach it from the passenger side with a friend telling me where to move my finger to find the reset button. As I recall it had to be held in for a specified time (flashing then solid green indicator light). That fixed a situation similar to yours. Good luck.
