I like to be able to melt the grill out of vehicles coming toward me if they do not dip their lights early enough. I may need more fire power. Will add a comment after using them at night on the highway out in the blackness of the boonies.

Nice looking install-job well done. They definitely ought to help. We live in N. Idaho and have driven in Montana many times so know about the middle of no-where

Used the driving lights last night. The standard lights on both low beam and hi beam cast "yellow" orbs on the road. When I turn on the driving lights the light on the road is white. Huge improvement.

I have wired them so they are powered by the hi beam circuit, but have a dash switch so that I can turn them off.

Pete,
Wiring the driving lights to be on with high beams is illegal. Driving lights are only allowed to be on with the low beams.

I guess I have to disagree with this statement. FOG lights are allowed to be on with the low beams...off with high beams. Lights, like the Hella 700's are not DOT approved and are for "off-road use" only. That being said, I have Hella 700 lights, retrofitted with 100 watt bulbs, on my Jeep Cherokee. They can only come on when the high beams are on, but are also on a separate switch like the OP. I can quickly shut them off with the high beam switch like one is supposed to do when a car approaches. This setup is far less dangerous than having illegal driving lights on with the low beams.

I'm interested in adding driving lights as you have done. Would you provide a few details such as how yours are mounted in relation to the grill (behind, on top of, through, etc)? Thanks

Sure, the mount is a piece of inch and a half angle aluminium bolted using the original frame bolts. The angle came from Home Depot. The lamps are Hella 700s from Summit Racing.

The photos should show how I fitted the lamps and relay.
