I guess I have to disagree with this statement. FOG lights are allowed to be on with the low beams...off with high beams. Lights, like the Hella 700's are not DOT approved and are for "off-road use" only. That being said, I have Hella 700 lights, retrofitted with 100 watt bulbs, on my Jeep Cherokee. They can only come on when the high beams are on, but are also on a separate switch like the OP. I can quickly shut them off with the high beam switch like one is supposed to do when a car approaches. This setup is far less dangerous than having illegal driving lights on with the low beams.
