2004 Journey 36G OE House Battery

Good evening all, I just entered into the great world of proud Winnebago RV owners with a purchase of a 2004 Journey 36G.

I am pretty sure the house batteries are shot or close to it as they don't stay charged.

The current set up has 2 batteries but I haven't pulled them out of the tray to get an exact brand/model and the picture I took isn't very revealing, I can see a small Exide sticker (menards battery) on the top. It is in storage and cold as heck here in IA now so looking to get OE info at this point, i.e. battery brand/model, voltage and how many.

The manual isn't very helpful, it says:
-Deep-cycle
-130 Amp Hr.
-225 minutes reserve capacity
-665 CCA (cold cranking amps).

I have done a bunch of searching and found a lot of info on what folks have changed to, i.e. 4x6V and 3x12V but at this point I want to get OE info and then adjust from that.

thanks in advance
rifleman

Take a look at the Chassis Wiring Installation diagram for your coach. It looks like the OEM config was 2 12V coach batteries unless you have the 2000W inverter/charger, in which case the config was 3 12V coach batteries. I would expect them to be Group 31 Deep Cycle batteries (and your chassis batteries should be 2 Group 31 starter batteries).

Thanks Chris, that was very helpful. When it warms up a little bit I will do some testing of the batteries and most likely have to replace them. The follow on question will be to stick with original configuration of 2x12V batteries, or add an additional 12v (if that will help in longevity) or go to multiple 6 volt. There is a lot discussion on that topic in this and other forums just need to dig deeper and do some analyzing.
