2002 UA Starting Battery Question

I should of asked this question a few years ago. My coach a Ultimate Advantage, 40J has 3 group 31, 995 CCA batteries. When I look at the specs it shows original equipment is 2.
Was there an option for 3?
Does any UF/UA owner have 3 installed. Kind of makes me wonder why.
Do I need 3 batteries if I replace in the near future as these are close to 5 years old
Thanks for any reply.

The Chassis Wiring Installation diagram for your coach shows 3 group 31 house/coach batteries and 2 group 31 chassis/engine batteries. Are you sure you're looking at the chassis batteries?

Just fyi, the diagrams don't actually show the group # for the batteries, but group 31 should fit.

The coach has 3 group 29 batteries, replaced last March, for the house and 3 group 31 batteries for the chassis.
The coach also has a 50 amp fused wire connected to the chassis batteries that I believe powers the computers and dash gauge cluster.

I would be inclined to set it up for 4 house batteries and 2 chassis, since there seems to be room.

depchief, your house batteries are on the left when viewing the battery compartment. An easy way to check is, remove the neg cables from them and start the engine. If it doesn't crank I am wrong.

Ray You are correct the house is on the left and chassis is on the right. Each is 3 batteries

cbeierl interesting suggestion, with deep cycle house batteries and regular batteries for the chassis how would the two types interact
