UV Protection

Hi Winnie owners,

I have scoured the archives looking for recommendations on UV protection, but did not find much.

I am very big, almost OCD, on maintenance. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

I am seeking recommendations on products that can be applied to the one piece gelcoat roof on my 26HE Sunstar. I want a product that won’t damage the gelcoat, but provides excellent UV protection. I’m familiar with fiberglass boat marine products, but have no experience with current technology concerning gelcoats.

Recommendations appreciated.

I only use 303 on my roof. It does an excellent job on UV protection of gelcoat fiberglass. Your roof will look like new for years, just like mine!

Thanks Macnut,

A few of questions if I may.

When you are not using your motorhome is it stored under a roof?

How much use does your motorhome get?

How often do you apply the 303 product?

We store ours under an awning at a storage facility, so the roof does not get direct sunlight except when we are using it. We use it every month of the year over a long weekends and a 1 or 2 week vacation. After washing the roof, I apply 303 to the entire roof, including shrouds, antennas, etc, except for the solar panels.

I had my first RV for 5 years, and the roof looked new when I sold it. I bought my current RV about a year ago, and I’m just about to use 303 on the roof for the second time.

You can see my RV and read about some of our trips here:

Ditto on Aerospace 303 Protectant.
I've been using it for many years on all of my vehicles, including my View 24G.
It is an excellent product for UV protection on any outdoor surface. It works particularly well on fiberglass and gelcoats.
Simple to apply and leaves no greasy film or streaks.

Get you some and be worry free about UV sun damage on your RV;

Ditto here as well.
Been using it for years, And you can get a sample pack for around $5. bucks.
It has all their products in it.
One for the wipers too.

I'm a 303 fan as well. Any issues where it comes in contact with sealants?
