Unknown Remote on Key Chain

When we bought our `99 Chieftain there was a remote control on the key chain. It is green with a single red led when the button is pushed. I have no clue what it is for. There is nothing written on the remote at all. Any idea what it may be for....

Stand a hundred yards away from the MH and push the button.

See what happens.

Nothing? Change batteries and try again with same distance.

Still nothing, call manufacturer.

Sorry, couldn't resist, but calling the Mfg. may be a good way to find out. Heck, it could go to the previous owners garage door.

I was picturing the previous owner sitting at home trying to enjoy TV and being annoyed that his garage door keeps opening and closing.

The remote would have to have good range as he lives in Rhode Island and I live in Nova Scotia

The remote has one button. If it was for an alarm system, I wonder where it might be installed.

How many buttons on the remote?

1: Garage or gate controller. Or a pet/luggage finder.

2: (or 4) awning or door lock/unlock.

I can't think of anything else that would put the remote on teh key ring.

Photos help.

Ejection seat? Germaphobes remote dump valve? Insert fresh battery, push button, if nothing happens, remove from keyring, place in drawer until you discover a mysterious box with a receiver in it disconnected somewhere in MH.

Believe me it's for an alarm. How do I know?

My first MH came with the same remote and I couldn't figure out what to do with it so I threw it away. I pressed the button and the LED lit up but nothing happened. A few weeks later in a campground we locked the doors and went out to eat. When we came back the alarm was screaming as well as a half dozen campers. Couldn't turn the alarm off, couldn't even find the alarm under the dash so I had to use the battery disconnect to shut it up.

The next day it took hours to find and disarm that stupid alarm buried under the dash....

I have a drawer full of odd keys, remotes, etc that I don't know what they were used for.
Hate to throw them out as I don't want what happened to MRBB to happen to me.

Well I found at the bottom of the screen door a pair of what looks like sensors with two green wires going out and into a large wiring harness under the steps. I have no idea where they ultimately end up. But unless there is a certain button push sequence to activate it then I assume that it no longer works...another item for the todo list.

Those wires might be for the electric steps when you open the door

You are right, never thought of that....that is exactly what those sensors are for. So now I am back to square one

I think it's hooked up to the door/steps somehow. Mine was so buried under the dash I couldn't see it only feel it when it went off. Made a clicking noise before it went off. I'd keep the remote in a drawer somewhere just in case.
