You do have the instructions for Winnebago installation? http://www.winnebagoind.com/resource...ik-L-Start.pdf

Trik-l-start takes power from your house batteries to charge the chassis batteries. What is charging your house batteries? Don't both banks of batteries get charged when shore power, generator, or engine is running now? I don't see the need for one of these unless you are missing something else in your electrical system.

Len:

I installed one on a Cambria Class C. Very easy to install at the charge solenoid and absolutely no issues. It is required on a Winnebago to charge the chassis battery as the generator or shore power is wired to only charge the house batteries.

LKANER, works great, installed one on my 03 Journey no problems.

BFlinn181, on Winnebago coaches the inverter only charges the house batteries. The coach engine charges both.

To the OP and, the two quotes above,
Winne and Itasca DID NOT include a CHASSIS battery charging system powered by shore or, generator power '05. Yes, those units DID charge the chassis batteries when the engine was/is running. They then realized that there were issues with many of their products if and when they remained parked for any length of time. At that point, somewhere around late '05 or, early '06 (more experts will chime in at this point) Winne and Itasca started installing the Trik-L-Start at the factory.

Ours is an '04 Itasca Horizon with the 330 CAT and, it didn't come with any Chassis battery charging from the factory. I know because I ran several tests and proved it in several ways. Because I didn't know about Trik-L-Start back then, I installed a three stage battery charger, hardwired into the 110VAC breakers at the foot of the bed. It does the same thing, my chassis batteries are constantly on charge, if I'm plugged into shore power or, generator power now.

As for the OP, if you look up Trik-L-Start on line, you'll find simple instructions on how to set it up. Now, will they work with your rig, not sure.

I have connected a battery minder charger to the chassis battery - with a power cord run to the power bay. For extended storage or whenever else desired just plug it in.

Installed one about a month ago on my old 93 HR Navigator. Works great!

My coach had a small drain on the chassis batteries that would cause them to drain down overtime. The Trik-L-Start fixed this problem.

I put one on my 1989 HR gasser and on my 1995 HR Endeavor 460. They work great. Both MHs start right up every time. A very easy installation too.

One of the best devices I have purchased. Works great, trouble free. I have spoken with the company representative during installation and they were terrific. Walked me through the process. I would install it on any coach I own. Just my 2 cents worth.

Winnebago doesn't install them on any of the gas chassis. I installed mine next to the breaker panel at the end of the kitchen cabinet, so that I can see the lights without opening the battery compartment.
