Slideout Operation

I have a 2006 Winnebago Journey, Model 39K. I have started having problems with the switches to extend and retract my three slides. The circuits appear dead. I tapped (palm of my hand) the bedroom slide switch and the slide extended. Since it started working after hitting the area around the switch, it would make me think that it is the switch. Same thing when it retracted. I've had the same thing happen with both front slides.

Has anyone had similar problems? Was it the switches or the solonoid valves, electrical connectors?

Before I start tearing everything apart, I'd apreciate anyone else's experience.

Also, is there a secret to getting the switches out of the woodwork and dash?

Appreciate some input.

We had the same problem, turned out to be the rocker switch. An rv service man replaced it for us.

I had same thing on 2004 Journey. The switch was erratic at first then quit working. It was a bad solenoid. I called HWH and they walked me through trouble shooting then shipped solenoid. They then walked me through replacing on the phone. A guy named Sparky help me out.

Thanks for everyone's comments. I'm inclined to think that it is a ground problem since it has happened on more than one one slideout. I'll check that when it quits raining. I have to change the oil anyway, so I'll be under the coach. If that doesn't solve the problem, then its checking switches and HWH.

Switches are SPDT Center off, spring return to off types

Now: Finding one that exactly fits in the hole... Major job

Finding one that will do the job but needs to be mounted differently.. Child's play (Radio Shack has 'em I think)

I have a "Spare" mounted just above my slide out switeches for the bedroom.. Since I've had that problem a few times

OPTION 2:

Remove the wires from the switch and cycle it a few dozen times both the "in" and "out" positions... NOTE: Label the wires so you put 'em back on properly

That's why you need to look at the HWH documentation and watch the LED's on the control board (Mine is under the front bumper with a clear Plexiglass window). You will quickly know if the command is getting to the control board, and the board is forwarding it to the main contactor. In my case it was the driver relay on the board, and it will exhibit exactly the same symptoms as a dead contactor or wall swx.

I have a .pdf of the board with the problem relays and LED's marked but no way to post it. This should be laminated and kept in everyone's manuals folder. It can turn hours of work into a simple glance.

Take a look at last few posts. We had the same problem, but after trying several fixes I found it just seem to happen when it was cold. Turned out to be a bad circuit board that would have an open circuit when cold.
