Wagonmaster2, Actually you aren't ALL that far from Moscow, Iowa and HWH so hop in the ole motorhome and take a road trip there. They do have electric hookups.

IF you do go there print this discussion all out and give it to them to read. Maybe they can clear up all the questions everyone has plus maybe they can straighten out the white and black bushings. Who knows they might even comp the repair.

Good point Savannah but I don't know which one would be most beneficial, a trip to Moscow or one to Forest City, they both are about 700 miles from me. At least Forest City would probably have the equipment to install the new bushings, at least I guess they would. I doubt HWH is going to comp anything in this economy, especially since they charged me $13 for a whole box of bushings I'll never use when I only needed two and $35 for 4 bolts, plus freight, that fasten to the underside of the ram when I only needed one. But I certainly would like to talk face to face with someone about the different color bushings.

Maybe one of our full-timing buddies will be in the area of Moscow and would love to chat with HWH.

When we felt we were having slide issues and that our large livingroom slide probably needed adjustment we did stop at HWH, we did however have an appointment with them for slow jacks The tech did look at the slide but said since Winnebago installs them they do the work on them but he did check the rails etc underneath and said they were fine(HWH is responsible for the rails). The jack adjustment was free as were the new springs they installed.

We then went to Forest City and Winnebago adjusted the slide, we went to the rally grounds service spaces overnight and had trouble with the slide so they came to the rally grounds site and did some other adjustments, we stayed another night and then went back into service for a few more tweaks. It's a heavy, flat floor slide with very little, read no clearance, on the fridge end so we have to keep it in line or have major problems.

HWH to Forest City is an easy one day trip up 380 thru Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, then 218 to Waverly, Charles City, then over to Mason City. It is 4 lane all the way to Clear Lake and usually not much traffic.

Maybe between the two stops, HWH and Winnebago, you'll get the knowledge and help you need/want.

Looks like the only way we are going to find out how to do this project is when someone gets brave enough to do it, or take their coach to a dealer and have them actually do it. I recently talked to two different dealers about this repair and showed them pictures I had taken of my bushings. The Winnebago dealer said they had done it before and would "probably" take about 4 hours labor at $95/hour (Jim did both of his rams on 2 rooms in little over an hour) and the other shop (not Winnebago) said to leave the coach with them for a couple hours so they could see what needed to be done then make an appointment for the repair (I figured they had never done this job before).
