Bruce, I can tell you that I talked to Winnie on this one and they said "nothing is needed, but I could use 100% clear silicone (dry) spray on the aluminum slide channels". And they recommend just an occassional "dusting" of talcum powder on the rubber slide seals.
I bought some "silicone slide lube" in a spray can from Camping World and went to use it last month; yech! The stuff came out as a brownish liquid. Yes, it dried fast and was slippery, but I didn't like the brown/rusty color (had to wipe it all off the aluminum rail). -Maybe I got a bad can? So I lost $12 and pitched it in the trash. Have now successfully used 100% Silicone (clear) spray by Prestone available at local auto parts stores.

The manufacturers of the slide mechanism (HWH) does not recommend any lube on the slide mechanism. You can check with your manuals and them and find this is true. The problem with most lubes is that they attract grit which wears out the system.

Thanks, I thought that was what I was told, but that was February 2003!

"The manufacturers of the slide mechanism (HWH) does not recommend any lube on the slide mechanism. "

Thanks for the reminder troth and DSouthw524!

Very Interesting....When we picked up our RV, the delivery man told us to lube the slides at least twice a season. I guess you are going to make me read the manual....Bummer.

Some models use a slide made by QuicKee. Their customer service guy told me not to use any lube on their slides.
They use high density polyethelene pads and runners that don't require lubrication.
He said if it gets dirty and you really feel like you need to do something, use dishsoap.
