I have a 2005 Itasca Sunrise and am interested in adding side screen shades for the driver and passenger windows that I can pull down while I am driving to help block the sun.
After doing some research, it does not appear that there is enough room to mount the shades above the windows because off the tracks for the inside privacy curtain.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I don't know about the shades you are considering, but I got a pair at the Winnebago surplus store in Forest City and mounted them between the track and the window.
They are the manual type - not the electrical shades though.

Those screens came on our Journey and are mounted between the window and curtain rail.

My Suncruiser came with factory installed sun screens that roll up/down mechanically. They cover the entire driver and passenger windows top to bottom. Great accessory, use them all the time. They are black and really block sunlight. You can see through them, I use them even when driving. Check with dealer or Winnebago.

Bob,
Do you have a cabnet over the top that you could mount a pull down shade on? My Meridian has the manual pull down side shades, but the privacy curtians mount to the under side of the cabnet as well. The shade is mounted in back of that.

The appropriate length shade could probably be sourced from Winnie, or try RV Upgrades here on the forum.

I had the same problem when I wanted to add shades to my Sighteseer. Do not have the 2 inch width requirement to mount the shade body to the horozontal surface.

Whay I did was make up "L" brackets which screw to the 1inch wide mounting surface and mounted the shade assembly so that it is slightly below the top window opening. There is more than 2 inches of clearance then so the case for the screen does not interfere with the curtain.

I made two "L"s per mounting point (2 for each side) You have be creative on how to screw the parts together. Took some head scratching. I used a combinationof screws and pulled rivets on mine. Not a lot of room to work and the brackets are small.

The assemblies are mounted now and work well. Well worth the effort. I will look to see is there is a way to get a digital picture of the brackets and get them to you.

Figuring out how to

Thanks all for your feedback. I have the same issue as sightseer 30b and will have to figure out a remedy.
