Sharp Microwave

DW making Baked Potaotes no matter what we set the oven on it would only run for a minute and cut off. Its a Sharpe Microwave/convection.
Reset on any setting and it again would only run for a minute. Tried several different settings run for minute and then cut off. 50mp service, reduced the load but in using the oven it will only run for a minute. Doesn't trip anything in the coach the oven just cuts off ,clear and reset and it will only run for a minute..Whats going on GHOSTS?????

You have a failed part that will require replacing. Depending on your model, you might find parts available online. Do a search for the issue and you will find good info. Mine did the same thing and it was a small part that I cannot remember the name of. If you can remove the MW and take it in for repair yourself, it will save you money.

If the microwave is not under warranty, it may be cheaper to junk it and buy a new one. With the high cost of labor and parts, it is often more expensive to fix it than replace it.

That's the part that I had to replace: the damper motor. It was about $60.00 including labor. Defiantely a lot cheaper than buying a new one. R&R was the hardest part.

Same thing happened to me. I replaced the damper motor. Be careful to place some pillows under the microwave when it it removed. It is heavy--maybe 60-70lbs. See picture of damper motor.

I have the same problem and have already ordered and received both the damper motor and damper switch, which has been suggested to me that either one could cause the problem. I haven't gotten anyone out to the house yet to remove the microwave.
You really got a great deal on your repair. My parts were about $40 and a quoted labor charge is about $100 to R&R the microwave. I also ordered the turntable motor to have it replaced at the same time since the additional labor will be very small.
This situation appears to be a very common problem with Sharp ovens and if Sharp was even remotely customer oriented they would cover these repairs under a limited recall.
Agree it's definitely cheaper to do the repair than to try to get new model to fit in the same space.

Yes, I got a good deal, but I removed and re-installed my microwave myself. I found an old-time repair staion that did the work at a very fair price.

Well folks many of you are right on. I found a dealer about 12 miles from me had the 10 AM appointment he removed the micro and said it was the thermister and he had one ordered , he would call me when it was fixed. Well I retuned home about 12 and at 1PM he called and said it was the damper motor, he had one and it was ready so back down we went and home at 3Pm. Works fine
and the cost was $73.23. Other than running the road it wasn't too bad and am just glad it wasn't worse. Sure better than buying a new one. OH the JOYS of owning a MOHO. When I sit under the awning it makes it all worthwhile...Be Safe.

Congrats. IF that price included removing and re-installing the micro, you got an excellent deal.
