RV Comfort Thermostat control box

Hello,

We have a 2 zone RV Comfort system. The zone 2 side (bed room) does not shut off when the door is closed. Too me this sounds like the zone 2 control box is not working. The manual says this is located in the return air plenum. Has anyone of the forum serviced one of these? Does that mean I have to pull off the A/C unit to get to the control box?

When they serviced mine they took off the top cover then the sealed portion of the ac where the coil is and it was in the duct there. Was able to pull it out and find a broken wire.

You have a sensor for each zone area that reads the current temperature. Sounds like when you shut the bedroom door the sensor is blocked from the air flow and can't get satisfied. Remember an appliance or light next to the sensor can keep it from communicating an off call to the ac jay box. Your sensor looks like this.

Todd7, If the zone 2 unit is shutting down when the door is open as mentioned above sounds like a air flow issue. Here are a few pictures ( Zone 1 temp sensor, zone 2 temp sensor and the control box in the AC unit) and a drawing of the AC control system used in our coaches.

This morning the 2nd heat pump came on for the first time this trip. Next stop I will take to top off the rear unit cover and check out the control box wires. Maybe one is loose.

Thanks for the information.

I don't believe your problem is in the jay box's ( control box's). Your key words "does not shut off when the door is closed" your zone one and two sensors may be wired incorrectly.
That would make it with the door shut the cool air can't reach the sensor in the other room and send an off call to the thermostat and on to the jay box.

Here is how to test;
Turn zone two on only to auto cool. If it is 78 in zone two move it to cool to 77 and let it satisfy and shut off. Take a blow dryer on medium heat at a three foot distance and warm the sensor in zone one. If zone two ac turns on your sensor wires are crossed. If so I will let you know which wires to move.
