I did some work removing rust and applying Phosphoric Acid (Ospho), then painting. Pics are before and after. The rust came from road salt when the rig was delivered in winter, on salted roads. The receiving dealer (Lazydays) failed to wash the undercarriage. Rust did not show up in any amount for a few years. Now I'm playing catch up, one section at a time.

Maybe an administrator can make these pics bigger? Thanks.

Well if it's any consolation I am pretty sure you aren't alone in the rust department. Don't think a couple of days (at most) would cause that much salt problems, however moisture and rain will also cause rust to appear on untreated metallic surfaces.

Good luck in your efforts.

Yeah, way too small, but I don't know how to make them larger; or make them "clickable" to enlarge them. Sorry.

Tom, I respectfully disagree. A good coating of wet road salt, without subsequent chassis washing, will result in substantial corrosion. That salt will cook on the chassis, aided by water from rain soaked roads. Recipe for disaster.

I have found the same problem. Most of the time it is steel they have added after the frame was fabricated. They don't clean are paint it, just raw steel.I finally got all of mine for now.Mine was delievered in the summer and I got rust.

Phosphoric Acid (brand name I used is Ospho) turns the rust into primer paint...apparently some sort of chemical reaction during the 24 hr cure period. But it's very pungent stuff, so you need to wear eye protection, hat, gloves and a mask. When you get a whiff, you'll know what I mean. I apply a coat of rust-protective spray paint afterward, such as Rustoleum. Don't know if will totally kill the rust, but I'm hoping it will arrest it somewhat.

you did fine, you just got the URL of your thumbnails instead of the 'medium' or full-size pics. I've PM'd you to continue this dialog on how to do this from a year ago

The Steer Safe looks rusted also.....Looks like many hours sitting in the Salt air for this type of corrosion IMHO.

My unit was delivered (and driven by me) in lots of salt covered roads, and my undercarriage doesn't have NEAR the rust this one does. The key to no rust is washing the undercarriage with a pressure washer EVERY time you wash the coach.

I'm also working severe rust on my 2006...also delivered in winter..also completed deep winter trip through Nebraska...Wyoming..Utah..and CA last winter. OUCH.

I received this product last week. Cost is high at first glance...but running the numbers for other products and time..etc..I decided on this one. I hate to do rust twice. Website is pretty well documented...especially test data with U.S. Navy.

I spray some of THIS with a hose after I drive in salt under my unit....it leaves a protective coating after disolving the salt. My undercarriage has almost no rust anywhere, and I drive alot in the salt up here.

The key is to clean the undercarriage properly to avoid the rust, and you won't have to use all those expensive paint products.

OK, I'll buy some Salt Terminator and periodically spray the undercarriage. Thanks for the tip!! Is it only available online or in Cabela stores, or can you buy it at Wal/K Mart, auto stores, etc?

I actually got my Salt Terminator at Bass Pro Shops in Dallas.....

You spray this liquid on (with the hose applicator) and the salt just drips off.....takes about 10 mins. for the whole chassis.....

FYI, I found Ospho in paint stores ranging from $11.50 to 22.50 per qt. However, I found Jasco at Lowes for 6.50 per qt. Far as I can determine, it's the same stuff...mainly Phosphoric Acid.
