Roll down window shade issue

The bedroom roll down window shades on my 2014 Vista 27N need more tension, as they do not roll up. I cant figure how to take them down nor even remove the valance. I can see no screws holding either.
Ideas?

can't help you with the valance but the roller shades are std residential style. on one end of the roller tube is a short pin that fits into a hole on the corresponding bracket. on the other end is a short tab that slips into an angled slot on its bracket.

I always do this by feel. I feel each end of the tube so I know where the pin and tabs are. then roll the tube until the tab is aligned with the slot. gently remove the tube from the slot...the pin will follow.

to re-tension the tube slowly and carefully turn the tab with a pair of pliers. don't be surprised if it slips and unwinds on you.

when done, and this is the tricky park, you have to replace the tube into the bracket pin side first and then the tab.

it would be easier if you could remove the valence but I couldn't see how that was done. good luck.

That isn't like the typical residential shade. It does not have the ears on each side holding the pin on one end and a slot type on the other.

Shade tension

I, too, have a Sunstar 27N with at least one shade that needs re-tensioning. When you get an answer from Winnebago, please share it here. Thank you!

If your shades are the same as on my 2014 Vista, there is no need to remove the valance. The shades are held in by 2 or more clips at the top that they are snapped into. Take a flashlight and look for them. Use a screwdriver to pry the side of the clip open to remove.
Google MCD shade adjustment to see what to do when you get them out. You may find that you need a replacement part - they notoriously break. Good luck!

I would also assume that your shades are the same as on my 2015 Sunstar. If so, haiduan is correct.

Although the side valances(?) don't need to come off, I found it easier with them off. It's easy, two phillips head screw on each side. You'll probably need to lay on your back with a flashlight to see the clips and a long thin blade straight screwdriver to release the clips.

You should be able to find a video on the adjustment for them, maybe even on MCD site. The only other thing I can think to mention is that when you put them back up, make sure they are centered left to right so neither side drags on the valences. Don't ask how I know this.

Good luck. Although it's not a job I would want to do frequently, it's doable.

This video worked for me. Our 2012 Itasca Sunstar's blinds and shades were not exactly like this, but the video steered me in the right direction. I removed the two vertical decorative valences (two screws each) and had access to the rollers. Took 2-3 minutes.

Finally found the holding clips and was able to replace broken parts and reinstall.
Thanks all.
