We are back on the road again (finally) after having a new thermostat and crossover pipe installed this morning. We got there at 7:30 am for our 2.5 hour repair...and left about 12:30pm !! We were soooo bored and tired. All 5 of us, plus the dog in his crate were in a waiting room that was about 6 x 12. There were 4 chairs and a small tv. By the end of the 4th hour we were seeing who could blow the biggest spit bubble

All seems well now and we made it about 200 miles before a severe thunderstorm with large hail and tornado warnings forced us into a Walmart parking lot, about 20 miles short of our planned campground. No big deal though, it's just an overnight anyway. Tomorrow we are going to see the Field of Dreamsin Dyersville and then we should be at our KOA in IL by early afternoon.

Glad to see you are finally back enroute. I notice that you frequently refer to KOA. We to use them when enroute, but I always look for other campgrounds in the area. KOA's are generally nice (I've hit a few that weren't) but they tend to be expensive. Take a look at what Passport America has to offer and other discount camping groups. You might find they will meet your needs and save some money besides.

We like to work Sudoku puzzles and we now have MP3 players which help tune out the distractions. It's a time when we get caught up on magazines that never seem to get read otherwise.

Usually the cats are okay in their carriers in the coach. Many places have the coach in a covered building, so that keeps it comfortable for the critters.

Just roll with the punches and make the best of it like you are doing.

Shan:

Glad to hear you are fixed and back on the road. We've been lucky so far and not had any problems requiring unplanned service while on a trip....I guess if we travel enough it will happen and we'll just have to grin and bear it.

Have a great time for the remainder of your trip....safe travels.

Last summer while in SD we had to stop at Dakota RV near Rapid City and have our generator serviced-we all waited in the coach-the seven of us (2 adults, 3 active boys and the 2 labs) w/ the slides in and it wasn't as bad as it could have been. The coach was in a covered buildding and we watched 'Close Encounters' which was pretty neat since Devil's Tower was one of our destinations on this trip.
