Propane pipe

I have a 2014 Winnebago Minnie 2201DS,my propane pipe that runs under my TT is getting rusty,would spray painting this pipe help? Any suggestions.

Probably not. Gas pipe is typically schedule 40 black iron pipe that has little or no corrosion resistant coating. Schedule 40 pipe is a rather thick all pipe. The good news is that your RV will likely wear out before the pipe rusts through. The weak link is the threads at the ends of the pipe where the pipe joins the fittings. However, even at this weak link it is unlikely that you'll experience a leak due to rust. Also, paint would not let very long on a pipe exposed to all the road abrasives.

Actually after noticing the same thing on our RV shortly after purchase I spray painted our LP pipe as well as some other things under the RV with rust resistant paint and it's held up really well. I'm the only one who's ever been under there to see it other than the service guys and it probably wasn't necessary but it makes me feel better.

Jonnypip...if it makes you feel better, my Sunline had a rusty gas line and it was fine for 10 years. And that trailer spent half the year stored outside. So, I agree that a little corrosion on the gas line won't hurt. But, you could use some Rustoleum paint...they have one that can be applied over light rust. I'd just remove the worst of the rust with some wet/dry paper and apply the paint.

Let me put it this way.

Can't Hurt, (Assming you do not smoke while spraying, then it can hurt, big time).

Use a good grade of rust control.. Like ACME

Jonnypip, I clean and paint everything that has rust on it. Just one of those RV things.

Clean it up with naval jelly to remove the rust and then paint it.

Good old Navy Jelly, that stuff does wonders but don't ever use in on a gun, it will take the coating off in a heartbeat.

BTW, I don't understand why MHs and TT don't use the CSST gas lines instead of black pipe? It's MUCH less likely to fail due to all of the vibration they receive.
