Power Connections for 2004 Chieftain Basement Air AC

We have a 2004 Chieftain, and had poor cooling with basement AC. I installed a roof-mount in the galley area, and it works great.

I am installing a new basement air unit, and took more or less good photos of the interior wiring to the circuit board and power input.

BUT, I apparently failed to note which of the power cables was designated as Circuit 1 or Circuit 2.

Since Circuit 1 runs on 30-amp, and circuit 2 on 50-amp and Gen set, I should probably try to get this part right.

The power cables are identical except that one of them has a Red stripe or patch of paint on it.

Which circuit does the Red-marked cable connect to? Then I'm Golden...

Thanks,
John Larson

PS - After removing the old unit, I discovered the input air (cold air return) Evaporator coils were pretty badly clogged with dust and dirt. This was probably my problem to begin with. However, the lesson is that the 99-cent air filters aren't very good to use. Use the better grade, and try to clean off the coils now and then. I haven't tried it, but I think I can reach them through the air channel under the bed with my shop vac. - JL

Since both the 30A and the 50A wires are coming from your breaker panel, it shouldn't be hard to determine which is connected when the other breaker is off.

How about some pics of your install on the roof, and work on the basement air? I'd like to see how you did it.

I added the roof air as detailed here: We add a roof top AC unit - page 1

Our coach is laid out a bit differently than the article, but I installed all the wiring, then took it to a Camping World to have them install a roof AC.

To remove the basement for replacement, I used this article: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&p...zBiZTYxYzU5ZWQ

He is simply removing the unit for servicing the unit and doing some upgrades. I just followed the removal instructions to get mine out, then disconnected the power and thermostat cables, and substituted the new unit when re-installing.

I will have to do some drilling for the attaching the output duct, and re-tape it a foot up where it connects to the roof ducting.

I got the replacement AC from https://www.rvautoparts.com/46515811...p_p_27080.html. I used a Harbor Freight $90 motorcycle jack to haul the units around. (The jack does not lift high enough to avoid lifting, but high enough that my son and I could lift it back in with no problem.)

I hope this helps!
