Pounding in slide wall

I have an Itasca 40u that has a pounding in the passenger slide front wall that is driving me wild. It goes on and on while driving. Any help?

Sure it's not something in a storage bin? Sound can be transferred from areas other than where it may appear to be coming from.

I'll bet it is the strap that you pull out the awning with. They hang down a few inches and they can snap against the RV sidewall when driving particularly in certain wind gust situations.

I had a Journey that had that pounding. Turned out to be the rubber in the front fenderwell was loose and vibrating. First time I heard it it sounded like a tire going flat and going wop wop wop

Does the sound come from the top area or bottom?

Pull the speaker cover off. This is easy to do. I work mine off with a butter knife. Four snap in holders are keeping the speaker in place. It is mounted on the speaker cloth frame and is a bit heavy when it comes loose. Look to see if something that does not belong is in that space. Also, check the topper covers. Mine are gone so I don't have to be concerned about junk getting under them. Could be another source of noise. It could be something in the basement telegraphing up through the floor.

I fixed my locks so they now work. I have noticed that some of the "common" noises we have become used to when traveling have either gone away or just gotten less intense.

I had a rattle over the drivers side. It sounded like it was directly above me in the slide. Turned out to be the printer tray. I store my printer in the cabinet next to the entertainment center and it was rattling against the wall.

Do you have the MCA solor/night shades? I've found that it easy to forget to roll one or another of these up when we leave and they'll slap like crazy too.

Another thought. I had a similar noise in the slide out right behind the driver's head. Sounded like wires slapping around inside the wall. It turned out to be the awning roller banging against a bracket. The bracket acts as a stop for the topper so that if it starts to unroll when traveling with the slide in, the bar sticking up at the end of the topper sleeve will hit the bracket & stop it from unrolling further. I padded where they rubbed and haven't had the noise since.

We have a 2013 40u and had a loud knocking noise behind the passenger seat. Shortly after the noise began the slide would not retract. Apparently the motor and slide assembly were not strong enough for the weight of the slide and the knocking was coming from the slide not being able to stay level and secure. Winnebago and Lippert replaced the slide mechanism, and replaced motors with 500/1 ratio motors and so far no more noise or stuck slide. You may want to get motored, etc checked.

Thumping Fenders

I found the front fender around the wheel on driver's side had come unglued. Ws are famous for this. It has now happened to both sides. Try pulling on the wheel well at several points, especially the aft portion. Hope this helps.
