P-30 GM A/C system

HELP!
We have a 1985 Winnebago 30 foot Chieftain with the 454 engine. Our dash unit (engine driven) compressor crapped out. We have tried every source known to us to find another compressor. dryer, and expanion valve to no avail. GM is of no use on this.

If anyone can help I can send photos via email of the different components as we have them removed.

Without this we are going to die this summer so i do appreciate any help on this. I have the GM numbers but they are useless.

Sincerely,

Folis Jones

Have you tried going to your local auto parts store and asking them. I know my 87 454 the parts are just for the big block. You might try that. I use Napa. Just a thought

Just went through the same search you're doing, ended up finding a ebay store airpartsinc that had everything I needed (TXV and receiver dryer) at very reasonable prices.

Thanks, I'll give them a call today. Apparently the types of compressors used on an '85 454 P-30 chassis are like hairs on a dogs back. No one, I mean no one can tell you.

NAPA, AutoZone, O'Reily, Advance, GM, etc were all dead ends.

Thanks, i looked up "airpartsinc" and it is an aircraft homebuilding company, i would not think they would carry a/c parts for a Chevy truck.

If it's a York compressor, try York Air Conditioning Parts, York A/C Parts

Also, you might be able to get brackets to use a more modern compressor. The dryer and expansion valve should also be replaceable as I doubt that Chevy built a unique system for an '85 Winnie.

I assume you are upgrading your refrigerant to R134 instead of R12, you might consider ES 12a. Available at Refrigerant, freon, freeze 12, envirosafe, freon replacement, hydrocarbon refrigerants I've read some forums where people have changed and gotten much better cooling from the ES 12a. In my RV, I plan to change if I need service to the old system because it seems to provide better cooling.

Thanks, i called them up and sent pictures of what i needed. He was
very nice and said he would ship the parts immediately. The prices were most reasonable too. I assume he sent them but i have not received a confirmation. If anyone needs a/c parts you might want to check with him first.

Regards,

Folis
