OBD II

Thinking of getting a OBD II scanner. Want to be able to read and clear codes.
What is the best bang for the bucks?

Amazon.com has standalone ones with buttons and display for under $ 20. If you have a smart phone and are willing to load an app on the phone and use it for the buttons and display then Amazon.com has those for under $ 12.

I got the Autel MaxiScan OBD-II Diagnostic Code Scanner at Amazon a couple of years ago for around $18 dollars now it is just under $20.00 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I've used it several times and it worked for me. Not a lot of detail on the small screen but I was able to look up the code online and find out all about what caused it before I reset it.

I bought a ScanGuage D for my rig. Accomplishes what you want plus more.

Yep, ScanGuage D. I can monitor a lot of engine functions on the go. Kinda spendy but I really like it.

I downloaded (purchased) an app for the IPAD and then got a wireless bluetooth adapter for the ODB. We can drive down the road and monitor the engine condition and how we are doing with things like the throttle. It helped us smooth our driving techniques. YMMV of course.

ScanGauge II is what I have. I bought it to monitor the transmission temp in a Yukon but have moved it between vehicles.

The BlueTooth OBDII adapters are great since they provide much more functionality that the ScanGauge. I have both and its great to be able to load the bluetooth readers software on your Android Tablet and get a much better display and data logging. The adapters can be had for less than $20 on Amazon with standard free shipping to boot while the ScanGauge can set you back over $100. The Bluetooth has the added plus that you are not locked into just the supplied software and can upgrade it to more current versions or more functional software much of which is free.

Here is a link to the one I am using which is now $15.90:
