Need ideas for entry door restrainer.

Anyone here have a good solution for an entry door restrainer/limiter? Our rig is an '02 Horizon, and Winnebago did not put a very effective door-stop or opening limiter on these model years. So when parked in CG, and entry door opened/screen door closed, a gust of winds catches the door, and springs it further open than it should go. Gust from the front of coach blows the door shut.

For years, I have used a bungie cord to try to limit outswing, but that is a PITA, and doesn't solve the prob. Newer models, and other brands, have a device mounted to the top of the door, which, when open, will hold it open, and keep it from blowing shut. But that device needs about 3/4" space between the top of the door, and the door frame, and this model doesn't have it.

Mods; If this should be in another area, please move it, as this may not be a problem for just Winnebago models. Thanks.

Here's one idea from over on rvforum.net: Entry door stop strap

(Note that you may need to join/log in to see any pictures, but that's free.)

Something like this might work - mounted on the top or bottom.

Thanks for the suggestions so far;

Chris, the strap may be the only thing that will work with this door, but it doesn't help when the wind is blowing it shut. I'd like to have a positive stop that will hold it open, if possible.

Mich F; I don't have enough clearance for the pneumatic holder. In fact, the other "hinged" mechanism that I was going to install, also requires more space than I have between frame and door. Good idea, but won't work on mine.

Dan; I'll check into what 3T's have. Thanks.

CaptBill, are you positive you don't have room for one of those gas strut cartridges? My Spirit came with one of those bars in garykk's post. I saw another Spirit, which I assume was built after mine, which is actually where I took that picture of the strut. In looking at mine it appears there is enough clearance to install one.

Oh never mind I just reread your follow up post and it looks like you're sure you don't have the space.
