Microwave stops after 1 minute

Microwave stops after one minute no matter how I program it . Anyone ever have this problem? I always like to check here first before spending hours on the phone. Customer Service ain't what it used to be.

had exactly the same problem with my microwave. Turned out to be the damper motor.

http://www.irv2.com/forums/f101/repl...ave-63279.html

Be careful when removing it, the convection microwave weighs about 80lbs. The damper motor can be odered from sears for about $26.

Let me know if you need more info.

hope this helps

Hey.. we have the same problem on ours. I just purchased this motorhome and it is one of the punch list items for the dealer to fix when it goes back. I checked the internet and I see that it relates to a damper motor switch.

If it was not under warranty I would replace it myself.

Lets see what happens...

Is it a Sharpe? Call them and they will tell you the closest dealer or repair service.
I had one about 15 miles away, took the Moho to them, they removed the microwave, told me they would call me when it was fixed, called me back the same day reinstalled and the bill was $73.and change..works great...Be Safe

+1 on the damper motor. You can remove and replace the microwave yourself, but it is best to have a friend as it weighs a fair amount and isn't in the best position to get your full strength into it.

Man,, if you can get it done at a repair facility for less than a $100.00 let them do it.. It is not a easy task to remove it and reinstall it....Good Luck

Ichn2go,
Yes, it is a Sharpe convection microwave of 2004 vintage.
It has worked fine since I replaced the damper motor. Notice that the microwave oven has 2 motors with the same part number. One is for the turntable and the other is for the damper motor. No one on the forum has reported a turntable motor failure (that I have seen).
Ichn2go is right about the weight. I removed it myself and lost my grip. It fell on the counter top which I had to have repaired.

good luck

Boy, did you ever get a terrific deal. The local appliance shop and an independent appliance repair guy both have quoted between $100-$125 labor not including the parts. This seems to be a common failure on the Sharp microwave/convection ovens.
