for anyones info: My microwave is or was a model 1510 [sharpe] The keypad showed garbage last year so I had it fixed under warranty and it went again. This time warranty was out. all the talking in the world but still had to pay for it myself. I got estimates from 100 to 200 bucks for repairs.I instead bought a new one model 1505 [sharpe] and it is the exact same mount just a few less bells and whistles.I figure the 1510 must have be problem prone if it breaks twice in 2 years in a motorhome use situation [were are not fulltimers]

Paul,
If you havent already been welcomed to IRV@, WELCOME.
I have a Sharpe also. Don't know if it is the same model as yours, but mine went out last year also. Like you said, garbage on the keyboard. At that time, it was fixed under warranty also. There must be something wrong with those things. Hope it doesnt go out again!! I wish I had thought about it when it was replaced and I would have had a convection/microwave put in and just paid the difference.

Does your microwave run off of an inverter? I'm just wondering about the effect (short term and long term) about the quasi-sine or stepped wave on electronics. Don't want to alarm anybody - if you have the stock inverter and everything is going fine, then I wouldn't get get your knickers in a twist.

Another thought about electronics failure: AC transients (line spikes, surges, low voltage) can cause premature failure of electronics. I would have a whole-coach surge guard in use anytime plugged in to shore power.

To John C. No it doesnt run off an inverter [gas coach] I had microwaves in other motorhomes and never had this problem. I dont think there is any noise or transients coming in. My MG is turning 60 cycles at 120 [or close volts] Could be unit isnt tough enough to h
andle the wonderful roads in Ohio or elsewhere.
