level in storage

I'm asking this question for my Son who just bought a small Motor Home, 25', and he ask me if the MH should be level while in storage?

Nothing is turned on, nothing is running while it is in storage. He just wanted to know if it should be level while in storage.

Thanks,

Ron

As long as the fridge is off it doesn't need to be level.

I think there's something to be said for taking some weight off of the tires and suspension while it's being stored. The vehicle weight is then distributed across 10 points on the ground (in my case) instead of just on the 6 tires. I keep it leveled at all times while in storage.

I agree with Miller7. My first set of tires had premature sidewall cracking. Michelin covered them fully - I only paid for labor. The tire dealer said it looked like they had sat for too long in one position - I bought after it sat for several months on a dealer's lot. The tire guy said to just start up and move it a few inches every couple of weeks. I was thinking that may be great for tires, but not for the diesel. So, I asked if taking some weight off the tires with the jacks would suffice. He said that would be even better. No more tire problems since I started doing that many years ago.

So, short answer is: there is no need to level in storage, but there can be a side benefit.

Depending on where your son lives and the weather he experiences he may want to keep it slightly off level so the water runs off the roof and other surfaces rather than pooling. Can still take the tires off the ground if you feel that is necessary and assuming he isn't going to be using it often.

Hope this helps.

What cracks the sidewalls ? The sun does it, it heats them up and dries them to crack them; so get some tire covers and cover your tires 12 months a year, otherwise, they'll crack all around the sidemwalls...nothing to do with the weight !
