Itasca Horizon 32 TD winterize

Hello, We have just purchased a 2002 Itasca Horizon 32 TD . We are trying to winterize and cant seem to find the diverter valve for the suction tube. The pictures in our owners manual are for a different model. Someone also removed our fresh water tank drain valve from the sanitation bay, so I used the pump to empty the tank, and am unsure of how deep suction tube goes into the tank. Information would be greatly appreciated

roxy13019, here is the link to the plumbing drawing for your coach. Look at sheet 4 for the diverter valve, looks like it could be a manual or electric valve.
The drain valve for the fresh water tank is a cable pull gate valve mounted on the tank. Some one must have pulled the cable out.

ROXY13019,
Just a point of info, the electric diverter valve on your year coach has a habit of going bad, the company Swan Industries went out of business as far as I know. There are posts regarding how to repair the valve if its not working.

Roxy13019 the diverter valve is electrically actuated by a switch located above the microwave. It is labeled "Winterize". The valve and suction tube are located in the rear most cargo bay on the curb side. The suction tube may be tucked behind the manual slideout winch and above the water pump. When the valve is actuated it tends to get hot so keep an eye on it, you will be able to pump a gallon of RV anti-freeze before it gets too hot. Near the winterize switch you will find the water heater bypass switch, turn this on to prevent anti-freeze from filling the water heater. That valve is located in the area to the rear of the water heater. On my 2002 32TD that valve had been replaced with a manual valve (see note about valve failure). A final note ,near the water pump is the low point drain, open that before pumping anti-freeze to drain water from the plumbing (open faucets to aid draining). Be sure to close that valve before pumping anti-freeze.

Good luck,

Thank you for the help, I think the diverter valve was installed after 2002. I ended up putting direct power to the valve and it worked, not efficient but effective. I will remove the hamper in bathroom and trace wire to the switch

I have a 02 Winny 32T. It has a manual diverter valve. The valve and the pick-up tube is located next to the water pump behind where the slide pulley is stored.

I would not worry about the small amount of water left in the tank as it is not under pressure and has room to expand.

FYI I just blew out the water lines with air and have not had any freezing problems in the 13 plus years of ownership. I do live in a climate that is "mild".

Hope this helps.
