HWH Pump Motor

I have a 2000 Ultimate Advantage with an HWH 610 Series Leveling System. The pump motor gave up today. I called HWH to order one but was told that it might be a few days before someone would call back to let me order the part. We are on a tight schedule and I need this motor now. Does anyone else sell these parts other than HWH,or has anyone had any luck having this pump motor rebuilt? I just need to get it fixed quicker than HWH wants to respond.

Take the pump motor to an automotive starter, alternator, DC motor repair shop. These motors are used in many common applications and can usually be repaired in lieu of replacement. There are many posts where members have done this and got back up and running in a reasonable amount of time and at reasonable costs.

I had my 2003 unit rebuilt in Bullhead City, AZ at a starter place for about $90, same day service. Turned out it was a corroded ground connection inside the case.

Stuart's Service in Elkhart, IN is a HWH repair center that stocks parts. 3T's RV in Lake Havasu City, AZ is also a HWH repair center that stocks parts.

HWH pump motor

Last weekend the jacks in my 2011 Vista 35F stopped working so back to the dealer again. My breaker panel compartment has been flooding since it was new so I figured that was the cause. Wrong. The dealer said the motor burned out. Cost to repair is about 700.00. I called a local electric motor repair shop and am dropping it off today. I'll post when I get the results. I'm more than a little unhappy, because I figure the jacks have been used about 15 times in the past 18 months. The motor probably runs about 2-3 min each cycle. I can't help but think that a total of 30 min. of use should not be enough to burn out a motor. Just another problem to add to a long list of problems with this Vista 35F

I don't know why the repair costs are so high. The motor used to be under $300 and it only takes a half hour to swap out. I have a friend who has experienced this several times, I will see if he will add to this discussion.

HWH Pump Motor

Just an update on the repair on my Pump Motor. After HWH would not respond with a call back to let me buy a Motor from them I decided to take it to Alternator Starter Sevice in Dallas to have it rebuilt. When I took it in and the guy looked at it and said. I have that motor in stock. Do you just want to buy a new one? How much I ask. $130 exact same motor that was on it. These motors and pumps are pretty common in for truck lift gates. By the way still no response form HWH.

That's great news Ronnie. Do you have a manufacturer name and part number?

Just an fyi...I always have the engine running when I put my slides out and jacks down to give full power to the pump/motor...Low voltage will kill them quicker than anything...

Just talked to a fellow Alpine Coach owner, we have the HWH 625 leveling/slide setup. His motor quit, took it to a local automotive alternator rebuild shop. Shop popped the motor open & found the problem to be a broken brush holder, likely a weakness on these units. They said they couldn't order just the holder, but had the same motor in stock for $140. HWH wanted $267.

Removing the motor?

Do you remove the motor from the valve body while it sits in its tray or do you have to pull the whole thing pump, tank, value body?

Generally the motor comes off w/two bolts on the end away from the manifold, and except for detaching electrical, you don't need to disturb the other junque. The two end bolts look like they hold the case together, but they do that plus anchor the case to the manifold. The motor is isolated from hydraulic fluid. If you can't get to the bolts to remove motor, try removing one of the bolts holding the manifold to the floor of the compartment, and loosen the other, then rotate the whole assembly. that usually works for access for motor removal. BE SURE TO SHUT OFF 12V TO THE MOTOR monkeying around w/wrenches in there, you can do some ugly welding if you are not careful, and most of the time its not easy to see what you are doing once hands are in the way.

The motor comes at the back of the pump. There are 2 1/4 inch bolts holding it on. Pretty easy job. Took me about 2 hours start to finish.

Hi Bob

On mine I just removed the motor, 2 long screws on the end. After disconnecting power at battery, removing hot wire from motor, loosen hose clamp. I left solenoids in place.

You will have to align shaft when replacing. Motor fits in the body in a slight recess.
