HWH Jack not retracting!

Can I over come this problem by buying over size springs? If so can anyone tell me where to buy such springs???

When mine went bad there was a great deal of force required to retract them. I doubt that stronger springs would have done it. I had new springs installed and that did not help one bit. Bite the bullet and get them rebuilt.

if it's just the one jack it could be a worn out spring. but it could also be a problem with the shaft. we had a similar problem on our '00 class A. one jack would go up a few inches and then stop. I tried lubing the shaft per HWH's specs but no change. I had the jack examined and learned there was a slight ding in the shaft that permitted it to be lowered but not to be raised without assistance (a long 2x4 placed under the pad and leveraged up). we had the jack replaced (using the original spring) and no further problems.

if I were you I'd lube the shaft per HWH specs and if that doesn't solve the problem have it inspected by a qualified tech.

good luck.

Is it one or more than one jack? I took mine off one at a time as they went bad and had them rebuilt by a local hydraulic shop. Cost about three hundred each.

The seals were worn out and binding and no amount of lubing would have fixed them.

In 2009 HWH charged me $116 (incl shipping) to rebuild one of the jacks on my 2005 Vectra.

sounds like a lot I know but I wanted it done quickly and HWH was backed up and wouldn't have one for several days. I think when you consider that they have to cut them apart, repair them, and then weld them back together the price isn't that bad.
