The basement heat pump / air-conditioning unit is one of the reasons I purchased my Voyage. It's placement in the basement allows the whole roof to be higher 7'2" of interior head room. We do not have to use portable electric space heaters or our propane when connected to power. In my view getting my moneys worth from a RV park is better than using my propane.
I believe that if you have a piece of equipment it should be used. If saving it by not using it is better, then we might not want to use the rig at all.
The only down side is the loss of the storage space from the compartment it occupies.
