The front door awning on our 2005 Horizon will not extend. This happened previously and a local RV shop (not a Winnie dealer) said they adjusted it to get it to work. When I push the button I get a click sound and it will not extend. Any suggestions?
If warranty work is required will A&E cover it. My rig is 2 1/2 years old.
Thanks

More than likely it s due to the wind sensor on the roof malfunctioning. Turn the wind sensor off (to manual)with the switch on the back side of the control box located in the first compartment next to the entry door on the upper right hand side.
If it now works there is a problem with the wind sensor. Just happend to me a couple of weeks ago.
My wind sensor had dirt in it

Try reaching up and wiggling it a bit while pushing the extend button. Sometimes the latches that hold it closed seem to stick a little.

Thanks, I know it is not the wind sensor since the main awning works. I will attempt to jiggle the awning while opening. I have attempted to call Winnie and have been put on hold for 20 minutes. I need the phone number of A&E Dometic.

I don't believe the wind sensor is connected to the door awning.
On my door awning there is a red safety catch on the rear, which hangs up and prevents the awning from extending at times.

A&E will tell you to take it to an A&E servicing dealer. It has been my experience that they do no tech support via phone. When I called all I got was a women that wanted my zip code so she could tell me the closest dealer. I gave her my current zip code and she said there was no dealer in that area!

Dirk is right, there is a little red slide switch on each side of the awning that keeps it locked in place while you are driving. Sometimes they dry out and don't want to release. Spray a little silicone on them and work them up and down. that should cure the problem.

The Dometic techs looked at my awning, and told me those catches were mainly for the manual crank out awning, and were not really needed on the electric model.
The techs asked me if I wanted them to remove the catches, and I passed. However, I may remove them myself.

LK,,,If and when you call Dometic Insist that you talk to a supervisor...Sometimes this will help solve a problem with A&E Awning.
Take the cover off, there is a round sleeve on the shaft. Sometimes this sleeve moves to the right facing the unit and binds.
When my awning acted like yours it took a new motor assembly to fix the problem. Go to A&E/Dometics web site and I believe you will find the closest A&E dealer to your location.
No, it is not under warranty. My last conversation with A&E stated that it had a two year warranty, a lot of the literature says one year but found out Winnie pays a little more for the awning so they get a two year warranty..Must depend on the Manufacturer. The cost of the motor is $750.00 but includes the gears shaft etc. Its not just the small motor...If your awning came with a manuel crank feature and crank handle..My thought was I could do a lot of cranking for 750.00Good Luck

We had the same problem. The motor was full of water. Had the motor replaced. Drilled a drain hole in cap on the end.
