Foggy windows

We have a 2005 Journey 36 G. Some of our windows are fogging up, I have found that Attwood has replacement glass for them. Now the entry door glass is also fogged up. Checked with them and she needs door part # to cross reference. Have looked all over can't seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated. Dealer wants $600.00 for this glass!

there are several shops that will remove, clean, re-seal and then re-install your windows. we had several windows that fogged up on our 2000 Itasca Suncruiser that were driving us nuts. after a months long fruitless search for an auto or home glass company who would replace the windows (and the dealer wanted $3000!) we found Suncoast Designers in Hudson, FL Window De-fogging | RV Window Repair Specialists in Hudson, FL. they did a great job and did all of the bad windows for a total of $750. they also have 50-amp overnite spots at no charge. we can enthusiastically recommend them.

others have used Dave Root RV Glass Repair in Bend, Oregon Home Page and the RV Fog Doctor in Searcy, Arkansas RVFogDr.com.

good luck.

terrymn, here is the link to the parts manual for your coach. Looks like there are two different entry door part numbers. Use the first link to go to the service parts list with your serial number and fine which door is on you coach. Then use the parts manual to fine the correct part number for the glass.

I had a similar problem on my Winnebago Adventurer. Found a local glass company that will remove the old (fogged up) glass from frame and install new single layer tinted and tempered glass. He told me that to remove the old glass he shatters it - breaks into small pieces then he can clean the frame and mount the new glass. Also it's a law that he can only install tempered glass.

Last week we had 2 windows reworked by SunCoast Design in Hudson, FL. One was the entry door window. Since it had abundant moisture in the glass both panes had to be replaced.
We were treated very fair and the workmanship of the installers was top notch.
If you are in the Florida area, it is worth the trip to have them redo the windows.

I can also attest to SunCoast Design... they did great by me. I arrived late one night, spent the evening in one of their free spots, and they started on my windows first thing in the morning and they were done by noon or so. A great job at a fair price.

emmmw You were lucky to get out in one day. They had 22 units on site, mostly MH's but a few 5er's. I saw at least 4 units that had 10 plus widows undergoing repair. This held us up and we had to stay over for a second day. Finally got completed and left at 3:00PM
Best to call for an appointment, hopefully after the snowbirds leave Florida and they slow down some.
If you go there, stop in at Frank's Diner on 19 just about a mile and a half north of SunCoast turn off, good food and very reasonable

Looks like I'm going to have to get some of ours done also! One sliding window over the dinette collects moisture on the inside but hasn't fogged yet. The worst on is in the entry door and it's a good sized one.

depchief... Noted. I did have an appointment and it was in late summer/early fall timeframe, so no snowbirds. They did have several units (<10 or so) that morning.

My unit is presently waiting at Suncoast for them to get in a replacement slide window. So for I have nothing but good things to say about how I have been treated.

You might try this guy. He works out of Bend, OR and does a good job - at least he did for me on an older Safari a few years ago. Home Page

Send Dave Roots and email and tell him what window you have fogged up and he can send you a price and maybe drive to your location when you get your coach back. He has done all of mine, 9 last year now the last one 3 weeks ago all at my place in the drive way. I think I have save $500 + just in fuel with him coming to my location, plus he does great work.

If anyone with rv glass problems near Riverside, CA, there is RV Glass Masters in Ontario that replaced my drivers door window 2 weeks ago. Did a great job. I didn't have to replace the glass as it cleaned up well so it was $225.00

I have twice ordered replacement windows for my 02 Winnie from Atwood.
Don't know where I got the Winnie window number at 125583-01-702 for
the passenger side, which crossed to Atwood # 390026101.
At the time I talked to Sue Phillips at 1-574-266-4829, that was several
yrs. ago. Also in my notes I have Atwood/ExCel, maybe someone bought
the other out???....coopcolt

I also have this problem. I have a 2002 Brave 32ft. The window that is fogged up is the passenger "door" window. This makes it very hard to see the side view mirror. I can't seem to find the part numbers or the catalog. I tried the link that was given above, but it didn't work for my year RV. Does anyone know of a good glass place in the Chicagoland area? TIA

we had foggy windows on 7-different windows in our 2000 Suncruiser a few years back. I must've spoken with at least a dozen different auto glass shops in the western/northwestern Chicago burbs. none of them would touch the job even though I had the step-by-step directions to remove, clean and reinstall the glass. we lived with the foggy windows for a year or so until I found Suncoast Designers in Hudson, FL. had all 7-windows (some were small and priced at half-price) de-fogged for just over $800. they were removed, cleaned, re-sealed and re-installed in just about a day. we had a free hookup space while the work was done. can't say enough good things about them.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. The part about no one in Chicagoland. My window is so bad I really wouldn't want to drive it 17 hours so I guess my hunt continues.

Who is good around Elkhart? Anyone know?

I had a similar problem with my 2001 Journey—entry door fogged. I found it rather easy to remove the glass and take it to a glass company in Springfield, MO. The tech said that glass was too badly pitted to clean; he separated the glass and showed me the result of trying to clean the glass; he was right, the glass would not clear up with any kind of cleaning process. He suggested replacing the glass with tempered auto glass, which he did. He put the new glass in the frame and calked it so it fit firm in the frame. As I recall, the replacement was $125. Now, occasionally, when the air conditioning is on and the outside is humid, the entry door glass will be covered with moisture, but it only lasts until the sun warms things up. I suppose there’s a good argument for installing double pane glass, but this is the second motorhome I’ve had where the windows fogged. I’m not sure the end result is worth the double pane glass. I had a Bounder, an older one, with single pane glass and, of course, there was no fogging. In fact, that seemed to me like a good design.

I am in Indianapolis and I have the same passenger sliding window fogging and obscuring the mirror. I checked the internet and came up with Duncan Systems in Ellhart. I have not called them yet so I know nothing about them. their number is 800-551-9149 ext 2025 email [email protected]. If you call or get something done let us know how they did. Seems like not many people do this type of work. I sure don't want to drive to florida to get windows fixed.
