Smile Exterior trim

Had to replace a storage bay door on my 2004 Winnebago Sightseer. Finally got exterior aluminum trim that covers the hinges to the bay doors but came off while driving. Anyone else have troubles getting trim back on and getting it to stay? It seems a poor design....Thanks in advance for a help!
