Entry door remote problem

I have a 2007 Journey 36G. The door lock "froze", fortunately in the unlock position. Upon checking discovered the actuator was bad. Disconnected it from lock assembly until a new one arrived.

Today am trying to replace with the new one and there is no power to it. There is power to the switch but not the door. The problem seems to be somewhere between switch and door contacts. I have not been able to find how that routes with my limited knowledge. Help or ideas of what to check is greatly appreciated.

You may find wiring diagrams for your coach helpful:

Thank you. I can follow wiring to switch which is good but lose it from there to door. Power to switch is good but nothing on door.

My Tour has two spring-loaded copper colored contacts between the door post and the door, does yours have them? I had to remove two screws holding those contacts in, and then back them out a ways, because they weren't making a good connection when the door was closed. I also cleaned the contacts by brushing them lightly with fine sandpaper. You should be able to test for voltage right there at the door post to confirm power to them.

Hope that helps -

Thank you sdlowe11. Those contacts is where I don't have power. Checked them also by removing screws and checking wires on back side.

I would assume that there's only power on those contacts when the switch/remote is being activated to lock/unlock the door. Have you checked it while the switch is being pushed?

Yes cbeierl I did check voltage on the contacts with the switch or remote activated. Thank you, sometimes it is the simple things we forget to check
though.

If problem not solved by tomorrow I will call Winnebago.

Taking another look I see that the Automotive Wiring Diagram for your coach has some additional info that may be helpful.

I spoke with tech at Winnebago about this problem and was told it sounds like a relay failure. When the relay goes, it burns out the actuator. If not the relay then the wiring must be problem. I didn't have a chance to recheck that before dark but hopefully will check tomorrow. Thank you to those who responded. Will update
