What brand and model is the awning?

Here is what I found in an online search on the Oasis power awning, hope it helps.

Awning may also be closed manually by using a Crank
in the eye of the gear to turn closkwise until the awning is closed.

I had the same problem, here is what we found. there is a plastic gear that opens and closes the awning, so as you can imagine the plastic has worn to the point it won't engage. Try putting pressure on the top of the awning while someone trys to open and close. If it is the plastic gear you will probably get it to engage. Now for the real problem, you cannot buy just the plastic gear, you have to buy the whole assembly from A&E. You might try some other sources if that is the problem, maybe a good hobby supply shop or find a machine shop and have a metal one made.

What does the whole assembly mean? Not an entirely new awning I hope

When mine "went south" it required a new motor and gear assembly ... there was an "revision" so that the old parts would not match up with the new parts.

The fabric, arms, and cover were the same. I was there when the work was done ... it requires either a scaffold or two people on a ladder to remove and replace the awning.

I have 2004 Journey. Some thing happened to me. Gears broken and had to strap it closed. Cheapest route was to replace the whole unit. It was the electric version and its expensive. $1200.00 Ouch!

As someone else noted , you will have to buy a new motor and gear assembly. This is a two person, but relatively simple job. Good Luck

I removed entry awning. Two ladder & two person job. The trouble now is every thing was attached with alm. Rivits. Drilled heads & removed awning, what to do with rivit stud that remains, and how to reinstall. I would use lags but don't know what header is made of or how deep.
