Destination 39W Basement Air Filter Change

Has anyone changed the filter on their basement air? I can't find a way to remove the old filter. There is a wooden frame that appears to be nailed on and a mesh wire covering the filter that I can't remove either.

I don't know if its like ours or not. On our coach the basement air filter is accessed by lifting the bed and then sliding the old filter towards the front of the coach. Replacement takes about 30 seconds and doesn't require any tools to accomplish. Be sure to slide the new one all the way to the back so all of the opening is covered by the filter. Ours is a 14 X 20 available from Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

Just an fyi, I went to a newer Lowes the other day, and they had every size imaginable except for 14x20. I even had a worker try and locate one, no luck in any style.

He said, "hate to say this, but Home Depot will have it, they have more sizes stocked." I told him you used to stock it and he said it must not have sold well and they de-stocked it.

Sucks for me, my house also uses this size. Home Depot it is.

The access panel is under the carpet in the closet near the grill. The filter just lays in the bottom of the box you see when you lift up the access panel. Standard size filter 14x20x1, I believe. You will note a similar hidden box for storage under the carpet on the other side of that closet.

I'm confused. A 39W, I thought was a Diesel, and a 37G was a gasser. I didn't know they made a 39? gasser in 2008. (Help?)

The 39W filter is in the rear closet, left side as you are looking in, under the carpet. I don't know anything about the gasser.

My 39W is on a Workhorse chassis (Gas) and your 39W is on a Freightliner chassis I believe.

I will clean out the closet and see what I find.
