Cortona Viewer Parts Catalog on 64 bit Windows 10 Solved

After much trial and error I am finally able to view the 3D drawings at Parts Catalog using my desktop PC running 64 bit Windows 10 enterprise.

My solution was to run Internet Explorer Version 11 in a Hyper V Windows 8.1 virtual machine downloaded from https://dev.windows.com/en-us/micros...s/vms/windows/

Thanks for hopefully a solution. We have had our Winnie 10 months and I was enthused when I saw all the info Winnie supplied online. Until I tried to access it. I gave up after several weeks of talking with them etc. What frustrated me was that they put so much effort into having all the info available, really a step above, but no effort into making it easily readable/usable by the common user.

I tried 3 different browsers, nothing would work. I never heard of Hyper V Virtual Machine but I will give it a try.

Hyper V is included in all versions of Windows 10 except Home (I think) so with the free virtual machine image there is nothing to buy.

The virtual machine will work for 90 days after that do you have to reinstall?

This sounds complicated.
I think you're saying that you are creating a new virtual machine, then you need to install a windows 7 OS so you can run IE.

Is this correct?

ALSO, I found some articles on how to open Explorer on Windows 10. How come this did not work?
I am still on Win 7, and scared to change...

Thanks,

Dan

bobder41 yes the virtual machine runs on a guest license for the chosen operating system and the license expires after 90 days. However, in the installation instructions they suggest workarounds such as "This could be as simple as holding onto the original archive that you downloaded, or you could take advantage of your virtualization platform’s snapshotting capability so that you can start over with a fresh VM at any time and not have to worry about the guest operating system running out of trial time". I'll try the snapshot feature AND keep the download archive.

dpinvidic Hyper V is a virtual machine manager. So I set that up first. Then I downloaded a virtual machine from microsoft (IE11 on Windows 8.1) and imported that into the mangager.

I have tried IE11 (and many other browsers) on Windows 10 and nothing works. I don't have the knowledge to say why.

Sue and Tom you can use any browser in Windows 10. They all work fine but the Cortona viewers (the Winnebago 3D viewing software) won't work (for me) on any of them.

OH, I now understand. Sorry, I interpreted the comment to mean you couldn't get any browser to work except Edge. My bad.

This looks like an elegant approach but expensive solution.

$99 to upgrade my home version to pro and at least $50 to get an 8.1 license.
Since I doubt I'll use it very often it will all be expired every time I use it.

I would be tempted to use VMWare Workstation Player 12 at $150 which is vastly superior to HyperV and avoid the upgrade to 10 Pro.
